Hyperion Essbase has long been a product used by finance departments
for budgeting and forecasting processes. We have built applications
for several companies to centrally collect budget data from
one perspective, to be manipulated and reported along many
others. In some cases, an Essbase-centered solution replaced
other products, such as Hyperion's Pillar and Enterprise.
In all cases, the solution included an Excel-based interface
used to manage the process and give structure for a large
group of analysts or department heads who use the tool for
only a short time each year. |

The needs of the financial community go beyond the budget
season. Each month analysts perform a mishmash of financial
processes. We have created solutions encompassing reporting
and distribution, dashboards, key metrics, ad-hoc analytics
as well as process automation and data transformation for
alternate use. And further up the corporate chain, we've implented
strategic and long-range planning processing to bring together
business units' historical and projected data to standardized

implemented center around performance -- volume, net sales,
profitability, watershed -- along customer, product, market,

scrutinized for opportunities, performance tracking and day-to-day
decisions. |

Production
In
a manufacturing environment, knowing what to make, how much
and when is key, and so is having the right data when making
these decisions. We've created solutions to incorporate sales
forecasting into the production planning process. We've also
created a production line planning tool that lets production
planners maintain packaging material schedules as their production
environment changes, sometimes hourly.

Academic
Research
The academic arena has its own business intelligence needs
-- they call it research. We worked with faculty and students
at Carnegie Mellon University in conjunction with the AAA
Foundation to create a web-based tool for assessing the risk
of a fatal crash based on trip (driving and passenger) behavior.
The fatal crash database used with a household trip survey
database provided count and statistical measures among many
dimensions. |
